NBA PLAYOFFS

The old cliché about the playoffs in sports is that it is the second season. That holds true in the NBA. If you've been watching the playoffs at all, you really feel that this holds true. The playoffs started on April 21st and it is still the first round. The NHL season ended just 10 days prior and are about halfway done with the second round. Granted the 10 day head start does help but come on already. David Stern really needs to do something about this scheduling. They could start games in the afternoon on weekdays but the ratings wouldn't be that great for them. But wait, doesn't baseball start games in the afternoon during their playoffs? No one's complained about that and they still fill up the stadiums for the most part during those games, don't they?

Also, one other lament about the NBA playoffs. What is with the divisions meaning nothing? In the Houston Rockets, Utah Jazz series, the Jazz won their division but because the Rockets had a better regular season record. WHAT?!?!!? If you're going to do that, then get rid of the divisions because they obviously mean nothing if you are going to have that as the set-up for the post season. Just line everyone up in both conferences and the top eight records make it and then you go from there.
